Research Opportunities in Psychology
As a Psychology major, you will have the opportunity to pursue independent reading and/or research for course credit. PSYC 496 (Fall) and PSYC 497 (Spring) Independent Reading/Research are available by arrangement with a faculty mentor. You may apply up to 6 hours of PSYC 496/497 to your major.
PSYC 496/497 Independent Reading/Research allows you to:
- Pursue an independent-study readings course in a particular area of interest under the guidance of a faculty mentor
- Engage in research with a faculty member
Requirements for PSYC 496/497 are established in consultation with the faculty mentor.
PSYC 490: Field Experience
This course enables students to engage in and earn course credit for applied experiences beyond their academic course work in Psychology. Students may take the course for 1-6 credits and work 3 hours per credit per week (9 hours for student’s enrolled for 3 credits) for 13 weeks at a public or private agency approved by the Field Experience supervisor.
