Nursing Students Scare Away Brain Cancer
The Wegmans School of Nursing and the Student Nurses Association said “boo” to brain cancer by participating in the 5th Annual Scare Away Brain Cancer 5K Run/Walk on October 26, held at East Rochester High School.
Proceeds from the annual race benefit an individual suffering from brain cancer to help alleviate medical costs, with a portion of the proceeds also donated to brain cancer research.
This year’s race benefitted a local nurse practitioner who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor that required treatment in California. In total, over 700 participants attended the race, and over 50 walkers and runners from the School of Nursing attended, including friends and family, walkers and runners. The not-so-scary-news: many of the runners representing Fisher placed in the top ten for their age group.
