From August 1-5, forty-three area high school students were "College Bound" at St. John Fisher College for an intensive five-day residential program designed to help them discover their academic and career interests. Supported in part by M&T Bank; the Fred & Floy Willmott Foundation; and the Ames-Amzalak Memorial Trust, in memory of Henry Ames, Semon Amzalak, and Dan Amzalak; the College Bound program is for academically qualified, low-income students who will be the first in their families to attend college. From July 27-31, approximately 25 area high school students will be “College Bound” at St. John Fisher College for an intensive five-day residential program designed to help them discover their academic and career interests. Supported in part by M&T Bank and the Ames-Amzalak Memorial Trust, the College Bound program, which is free of charge for participants, is for academically qualified, low-income students who will be the first in their families to attend college. The intent of the program is to familiarize the students with the various aspects of the college admission and financial aid application processes, and provide them with the knowledge and skills to successfully search for, apply to, and select a college.
