Accounting

Accounting Alumni of the Year

The Accounting Alumnus of the Year award was created in 1990 to honor the achievements of distinguished St. John Fisher College Accounting Alumni. The recipient must not only exemplify Fisher's core values, but must meet three basic criteria of noteworthy career achievement, significant humanitarian effort, and outstanding contribution to the St. John Fisher College Community.

Accounting Rising Star

The award is given to alumni who have found success early in their careers, and honorees are chosen based on career achievements, involvement with both the community and the College, and demonstrated potential for even greater success as their accounting careers mature.

Accounting Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is given by the College and the Accounting Alumni Society to an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of accounting, and to the St. John Fisher College community.


Buffalo/Niagara Alumni Chapter (BNAC)

BNAC Outstanding Young Alumnus/na

The criteria for this award includes having obtained a degree from St. John Fisher College within the last 10 years and having shown significant leadership in their career, as well as having contributed to the St. John Fisher community through various ways of support and volunteerism.

BNAC Alumnus/na of the Year

The criteria for this award includes having obtained a degree from St. John Fisher College and having achieved professional success in a chosen career(s). Candidates must also demonstrate significant humanitarian effort and contributions to the St. John Fisher community through various ways of support and volunteerism.

BNAC Lifetime Achievement

The criteria for this award includes having obtained a degree from St. John Fisher College and having achieved lifelong professional success and noteworthy career achievements. Candidates must also demonstrate significant humanitarian effort and contributions to the St. John Fisher community through various ways of support and volunteerism.


Education

Distinguished Alumnus/na in Teaching

Given to alumni who exemplify the School of Education’s highest values of diversity, achievement, compassion, knowledge, and service. Honors an alumnus or alumna who exemplifies the highest standards of teaching.

Distinguished Alumnus/na in Educational Leadership

Given to alumni who exemplify the School of Education’s highest values of diversity, achievement, compassion, knowledge, and service. Honors an alumnus or alumna of the Educational Leadership Program who has a distinguished career in leading schools toward excellence.

The Arthur L. Walton, Jr. Award for Executive Leadership

Given to alumni who exemplify the School of Education’s highest values of diversity, achievement, compassion, knowledge, and service. Honors an alumnus or alumna of the Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership Program who has gained distinction in his/her career for extraordinarily effective leadership through applied scholarship in professions including health, criminal justice, education, government, and community service.


Management

Excellence in Management Award

Recognizes alumni who demonstrate: outstanding leadership and managerial accomplishments in business, academic, or community settings; a proven track record of drive and insight which has led to significant accomplishments in the field of management; a record of community involvement; high moral character; and commitment to continued involvement with St. John Fisher College.

Beta Gamma Sigma Honoree

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

The Chapter Honoree award is conferred upon those who have furthered the ideals of the Society through outstanding business and managerial leadership. Any person who has achieved distinction primarily in business and administration who possesses those qualities that Beta Gamma Sigma fosters may be nominated as chapter honoree by the chapter.

Victor E. Salerno Award for American Enterprise (young alum)

Recognizes Fisher graduates for their career achievements, their involvement in both the community and the College, and their potential for even greater success as their management careers mature.

The Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Service

Was created by former Dean Selim Ilter to honor the exemplary and sustained contributions of individuals in the service of the School of Business. Outstanding service to the School includes involvement in advisory boards, mentoring, fundraising, community relations, accreditation, and more.


Communications, Journalism, & Media

Jack Palvino Excellence in Communications Media Gold Award

This award is given by the College and Jack Palvino ’55 to an individual in recognition of his or her outstanding career achievements in media and communication.

Jack Palvino Excellence in Communications Lifetime Achievement Award

The Excellence in Communications Lifetime Achievement Award is given by the College and Jack Palvino ’55 to industry leaders in recognition of noteworthy contributions.


Justinian Order

Justinian Order Medal

The Justinian Medal is given by the College and the Justinian Order, which is comprised of 420 judges and attorneys, all graduates of Fisher, to an individual in recognition of his or her outstanding service and civic leadership in numerous professional, business, and charitable endeavors in the community and at the College.


Science and Technology

Science and Technology Hall of Fame

The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to science and/or technology, science education, medicine or health-related fields, or who are noteworthy for their service to their community or the College.

Science and Technology Rising Star

his award is given to alumni who have found success early in their careers, and honorees are chosen based on career achievements, involvement with both the community and the College, and demonstrated potential for even greater success as their accounting careers mature.

Recognition Events

The Excellence in Management Dinner is an annual event held to honor the recipients of the Excellence in Management Award, the Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Service, the Victor E. Salerno Award for American Enterprise, and the Beta Gamma Sigma Award.

The Justinian Order Medal Award Reception is held in the fall, honoring an alumnus/alumna with the Justinian Order Medal.

The Education Celebration is held annually in May. The dinner honors the recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Award, the Distinguished Educational Leadership Award, and the Arthur L. Walton, Jr. Award for Executive Leadership Award.

The Jack Palvino Excellence in Communications Award Gala is held every two years in the spring. The gala honors the recipient of the Jack Palvino Excellence in Communications Lifetime Achievement Award and Media Gold honorees.

The Science & Technology Hall of Fame is held annually during Alumni Weekend. In addition to inducting new members into the Hall of Fame, the event honors Science & Technology Rising Stars.

The Accounting Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon is held annually during Alumni Weekend, and recognizes the recipient of the Accounting Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Accounting Awards Banquet is held annually in March and honors the Accounting Alumnus/Alumna of the Year, as well as Accounting Alumni Rising Stars.

The Buffalo/Niagara Alumni Chapter (BNAC) Awards Banquet is held annually in the fall, and honors BNAC Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna, the BNAC Alumnus/Alumna of the Year, and the BNAC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
