Wi-Fi in Residence Hall Common Areas
04/08/2011
Perhaps you have seen the bright yellow "SJFC Wireless: Wi-Fi Here" signs around campus in the Pioch Café, Lavery Library, and other areas. Now, resident students will see them in some new locations as well!
The Office of Information Technology, in partnership with Residence Life, has just completed a project to install Wi-Fi in all residence hall common areas. This addition will allow resident students to use Wi-Fi-enabled devices in those areas. Installations were completed in the following spaces:
-All Murphy Lounges
-Dorsey Lounge
-All Founders Lounges, the Computer Room, and the Study Room
-All Ward Lounges
-All Haffey Lounges
-All Keough Lounges and Computer Rooms
-Michaelhouse Lounge
-Murray Lounges
This project is part of a larger initiative to increase wireless access throughout the campus. Other recent wireless projects include adding Wi-Fi to the Pioch Café and tuning wireless strength in Lavery Library based on feedback from library patrons.
