He has been an Assistant District Attorney in the Local Courts Bureau, the County Court Bureau and the Major Felony Bureau. He was also Chief of the County Court Bureau and Deputy Bureau Chief of the Local Courts Bureau. In January 2012, Mr. Gargan agreed to become part of the newly created Special Victims Trial Division as Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau. Mr. Gargan's prior experience as the SAFE (Stop Abuse in the Family Environment) and extensive felony level experience will be a significant asset to the Domestic Violence Bureau. Mr. Gargan has received awards from the Monroe County/City of Rochester Coalition for Crime Victims and the Rochester Clearing House Security Committee. He has lectured through the New York Prosecutor's Training Institute (NYPTI), the Monroe County District Attorney's Office Continuing Legal Education programs and to various local law enforcement agencies. Mr. Gargan will be presenting on issues of hate crimes along with the consequences.
