Considered the handbook for pharmacists, the Blue Book (sponsored by Baxter) has undergone a thorough overhaul and is available electronically for the first time. The purpose of this program is to provide a basis for conducting a well-organized training program for pharmacy personnel involved in preparing intravenous (I.V.) admixtures. The online format of the program allows users to learn at their own pace and provides reporting/documentation capabilities for staff training files. This program is appropriate for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, as well as pharmacists or other healthcare providers who have had little or no previous training in this area. This training program is valuable in providing a program to learn the principles of I.V. admixture preparation and aseptic technique skills, it may also serve as a useful review reference if the pharmacy technician elects to take the national pharmacy technician certification exam.
