The Department of American Studies and the School of Arts and Sciences at St. John Fisher College are pleased to announce the second annual "America Seen" photography lecture. This year’s speaker will be Karen Halverson, a highly acclaimed landscape photographer. Her lecture, entitled "Photographic Explorations in the American West," will be held Thursday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Basil Hall, room 135. The event is free and open to the public.

On Saturday, March 13, Dr. Donald Bain, President of St. John Fisher College, presided as the Grand Marshal of the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Rochester. Dr. Bain, who traces his Irish ancestry to County Kerry, first visited Ireland in the autumn of 1964.

Lavery Library recently announced the creation of the Dr. Mark Szarejko Faculty Information Literacy Award. The award is given to a St. John Fisher College faculty member who actively supports information literacy. The award is named for Dr. Mark Szarejko '80, in recognition of his support for the library.

Francisco Plata, Assistant Professor of Modern Languages, and Dr. Ruben Gomez, Chair of the Modern Languages and Cultures Department, played the Spanish leads in the world premiere of "Abracadabra," a play presented in three languages.

The art gallery at the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at St. John Fisher College will open a new exhibit on Monday, March 15. "Forgotten Ireland: Defining a National Identity Through Art in Early Twentieth Century Ireland" will be on display through April 30, and is free and open to the public.
