John “Jack” Palvino, member of St. John Fisher College’s first graduating class in 1955 and one of Rochester’s best-known media figures, has published his first book. On The Air will be available for purchase next week, and Palvino will be at Fisher’s bookstore for a book signing on Saturday, December 11, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. In addition, he is offering the book to current students at a discounted price.

This Saturday, December 4, St. John Fisher College will host its annual “Day of Celebration,” an all-day, campus-wide festival that showcases holiday celebrations from various races, cultures, ethnicities, and traditions. These observations include Kwanzaa, Three Kings, Hanukkah, Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Ramadan. This year, the focus of the Day of Celebration is the Puerto Rican culture. With the exception of the Kwanzaa dinner, all events are free and open to the public.

International Studies graduate, Dyann Brown ´09, was recently invited to represent St. John Fisher College as a speaker/panelist at the International Studies Association’s Northeast Conference. Brown presented her graduate thesis at the conference, which was held in Baltimore, MD, November 6-10.

St. John Fisher racked up 395 yards of total offense in the first half, jumping out to a 42-6 lead at intermission and never looked back, as the Cardinals earned a 56-13 win over visiting Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday in the ECAC Northwest Championship Bowl.

The conference took place in Ontario, Canada, on November 12.
