Welcome to Orientation at Fisher!

Saturday, September 3 - Tuesday, September 6

Fisher's Orientation program is designed to help you make a smooth transition to college. You'll learn about campus life, student activities, academic expectations, campus facilities and support services, and make lots of new friends!

In short, Orientation is the most significant community-building activity you can take part in at Fisher. Current Fisher students serve as "Orientation Leaders" and are anxious to meet you.

Orientation is required for all new full-time Fisher students, both commuters and residents. It's a fun-filled time for you to become acquainted with the College and to take part in activities with your new classmates, many of whom will become your friends for life.

Why did you choose Fisher?
I chose Fisher because of the Fisher family. The second I stepped foot on this campus, I knew I was at home. From the amazing professors and workers to the genuine kindness you receive from everyone you meet, Fisher has always felt like home. I love the continuous opportunities you have to get involved and make new friends no matter if you are new to the school or have been here for a while.

What is your favorite Fisher memory?
My favorite Fisher memory is definitely when I took a Dale Carnegie course. Not only did I get to meet a bunch of new people that I probably would have never met otherwise, but I also finally found my voice and place here at Fisher. I loved seeing my peers grow and seeing myself grow as well. I was in an environment that made me feel uncomfortable but totally accepted at the same time. Graduating from the course was amazing and heartwarming.

What do you love about orientation?
Orientation is an amazing experience. It brings so many people together in a time of transition and makes it little bit easier. Orientation is the time to find your Fisher family. We get to see people find their own way and make new friends and memories. It is something you will remember for the rest of your life and really is one of the pivotal moments of your college career.

What should freshman expect?
You will be brought into an energetic and exciting environment that will start off your college career in the best way possible if you let it. Orientation is about helping you to feel comfortable at Fisher and introducing you to many new people and experiences that you might not be exposed to. Leave yourself open to even the silliest things we do and I promise you will have an amazing experience.

One random fact about yourself:
A random fact about me is that I really like to knit. I get called a grandma a lot but I embrace it. Just because you knit doesn't mean you can't be the life of the party/orientation!

Favorite thing to do in Rochester:
My favorite thing to do in Rochester is go down to Park Avenue where they have all these cute little cafes and restaurants just to hang out. I also love going to the movies or even going to Eastview Mall to go shopping because you doesn't love shopping?!
