Meal Plan Glossary

Meal Swipe

Each meal plan comes with a different amount of “meal swipes” which can be used during any meal period at any venue.

Swiping Twice Per Meal Period

For Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Commuter Plans students can use up to two meal swipes per meal period in the All You Can Eat (AYCE) Dining Halls OR one meal swipe in an AYCE Dining Hall and one meal equivalency in the Cyber Café, Cardinal Café, Fishbowl, or Pioch Café (Retail Dining Outlets) per meal period.

Unlimited Dining Hall Plan

For the Unlimited Dining Hall Plan students can swipe as many times per meal period as they wish in the All You Can Eat (AYCE) Dining Halls and once for meal equivalency at Late Night.

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars can be used at all of our Retail Dining Outlets (Cyber Café, Cardinal Café, Fishbowl, and Pioch Café) for a la carte purchase. Dining Dollars can also be used in the All-You-Can-Eat Dining Halls in Ward-Haffey and Murphy Halls at the price per all you can eat meal.

Guest Passes

Meal plans are intended for personal use only so each meal plan comes with 5 guest passes per semester, which come in handy when friends and family come to visit!

Meal Equivalency

During each meal period, students can use their meal plan one time for meal equivalency in the Retail Dining Outlets. The meal equivalency rate is different depending on the meal period. See Dining Hall Hours, Locations, and Equivalencies for more information.

The Unlimited Dining Hall Plan only provides meal equivalency for the Late Night meal period.

Meal Periods

Meal periods are the hours in which you can use your meal swipe or meal equivalency for each type of meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, brunch). See Dining Hall Hours, Locations, and Equivalencies for more information.

Meal Plan Costs

Current meal plan costs are posted on the Student Accounts website.
