Break Housing

To view the dates of the College Breaks, click here.

Students who request approval to stay during one of the College Breaks (Thanksgiving, Easter and Spring Break) submit an application on ResLife On-Line to request that they be authorized to stay. This application will be reviewed by the Office of Residential Life and students will be informed if they are approved or denied to stay for the break. Students may not stay during the Winter Semester Break.

On the form, students will be asked why they are requesting to stay and if their reason is approved they will be charged a fee based on the length of the break. This charge helps defray the costs of having students on campus during times outside of their contract. [Student Teachers and Athletes (who are in season and are requested to stay by their coach) will not be charged the fee but will have to fill out the "Request for Housing During College Breaks" form.] Students who have a home address of record farther than 225 miles from St. John Fisher College can request that the fee be waived. In addition, students who feel they have extenuating circumstances may request the fee be waived. These requests can be made on the application.

Please note, students are responsible for understanding the following:

  • that if they are currently on disciplinary probation, or are placed on probation between the signing of the agreement and the break, they will not be allowed to stay for the break.
  • that during the break they may not have guests (anyone not approved to stay for break), regardless of if they are Fisher students or not.
  • that food service is not provided during the break.
  • that they are expected to follow all College policies and if they violate any policy, including the guest policy for breaks they will be documented and asked to leave campus without a refund.
  • that they receive an email either confirming or denying their request to stay on campus and it is their responsibility to check their Fisher email account.
  • that they may be billed for the break.

In addition, during vacation periods, Facilities Services may find it necessary to enter rooms to make repairs.

As a reminder, at the end of each semester, students must move out of the Residence Halls 24 hours after their last final exam.
