St. John Fisher College is an independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. The College emphasizes liberal learning for students in traditional academic disciplines, as well as for those in more directly career-oriented fields.
The campus is situated on 154 park-like acres - a beautiful setting for 26 modern buildings and a warm, friendly campus community. The College offers over 30 academic majors in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, business, education, and nursing, as well as 11 pre-professional programs.
Fisher offers a variety of master's and doctoral programs.
Founded in 1948 by the Congregation of St. Basil as a Catholic College for men, St. John Fisher College became independent in 1968 and coeducational in 1971 and continues to honor its Catholic and Basilian heritage.
Nearly 2,700 full-time and 200 part-time undergraduate students; 40 percent male and 60 percent female.

Athletics are an important part of campus life. The College is a Division III member of the NCAA, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Empire 8, and the Liberty League (rowing).
Students may choose from a wide range of campus clubs and organizations, including student government, music groups, language clubs, cultural organizations, student publications, and intramural sports. Many academic departments also sponsor clubs.
Points of Pride
Several Fisher faculty members have received prestigious Fulbright Scholarships, an honor accorded to only about one thousand faculty members in the nation each year. Also, Fisher is consistently named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service to America's communities.
