A new exhibit at St. John Fisher College's Patricia O'Keefe Ross Gallery will showcase a collection of works by Robin Lehman. The mixed media exhibition, From Film to Flame, will be on display through Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Gallery, located in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center.
A painter and graphic artist, Lehman studied musical composition in Paris, and while in Europe, began making documentary films. Exploring subjects ranging from African wildlife to hot glass, Lehman's films have won more than 150 major awards, including two Academy Awards. He was introduced to glass art while capturing footage of Venetian classical glass master, William Gudenrath, at the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass.
That experience launched a passion that led Lehman to manipulate glass into paperweights and casts that depict abstractions, natural history, and portraits.
“I never could have predicted the happy accidents which introduced me to painting, films, and glass. In my experience if you are open to new ideas you never know what can be discovered just around the corner. With the infinite variety of subject matter now available on the Internet anything is possible,” wrote Lehman in his artist's statement.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Libby Pinti at (585) 385-5292 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
