Advanced Certificate in Special Education Leadership

Expand your knowledge of special education topics and prepare to be a guiding force in the field through Fisher’s advanced certificate in special education leadership program.

The first fully online program from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, the advanced certificate in special education leadership is designed for permanently certified teachers, as well as current and future administrators, who are interested in additional instruction and experience in special education leadership.

Classroom studies and fieldwork prepare you to support certified teachers or administrators as a case manager, CSE chair, teacher leader, or other leadership role.

Program Overview

The course work emphasizes special education law and regulations—a growing need in today’s schools—curriculum design and instruction, and behavioral interventions and supports. In the final seminar course, you will participate in a 50-hour fieldwork experience with a supervising special education administrator.

You will take three four-credit courses to meet this program’s requirements. Certificate completion can be accomplished in just two semesters.
