Online M.S. in Literacy Education

Engage in a literacy program that prepares you for today's classroom and communities.

Designed for general and special education teachers, the M.S. degree in literacy education at Fisher can be completed online in just twelve months and leads to professional certification in literacy education, all grades.

The fully online program prepares you to be a culturally responsive literacy professional who works directly with students who experience difficulty in reading or writing, and provides support in literacy to classroom teachers and families.

Program Overview

Fisher's culturally responsive curriculum focuses on pedagogy, theory, and literature, as well as community partnerships and experiences. You will expand your knowledge of literacy curriculum, assessment, and instruction for diverse learners while developing an understanding of the cultural impacts of literacy on education. As a graduate, you will possess the skills required to respond to the local and national need for teachers to understand and implement culturally responsive instruction. You can complete the program in just twelve months.

In addition to your literacy specialist certifications, as a program graduate, you will be eligible for the professional certification in your original initial teaching certification area.

Initial teaching certification is required for admission to the program.
