Improv Comedy Group Second City Headlines Alumni Weekend
September 6, 2017
Improv comedy troupe, Second City, will headline St. John Fisher College’s 2017 Alumni Weekend, held Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 8.
Second City will perform at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center. Tickets for the show are: $5 for students; $10 for alumni, faculty, and staff; and $20 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Opening its doors in 1959 as a small cabaret theatre, The Second City Touring Company has earned a reputation for developing the finest comedic voices. With the debut of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” populated by Second City alumni John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and Gilda Radner, the theatre became internationally known for its ever-increasing roster of comedy superstars. During Alumni Weekend, guests will laugh, cry, and participate with the improv and sketch comedy group and see the next generation of great comic talent. There’s no telling what will happen as The Second City takes over Fisher with sketch and improv comedy.
In addition to the headline show, Alumni Weekend will feature receptions, award ceremonies, tailgating, and the Cardinal Carnival, among other activities. The classes of 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2007, and 2012 are all celebrating reunion years.
