Tell the World “I Heart Fisher” on Fifth Annual Giving Day

March 8, 2024

St. John Fisher University is set to celebrate philanthropy during the fifth annual I Heart Fisher Giving Day on Thursday, Mar. 21.

Students show their Fisher pride!

With events happening for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and benefactors, the day celebrates all things Fisher and encourages support through giving.

I Heart Fisher Giving Day challenges will help unlock match gifts, including a 1:1 match of up to $85,000 for the Fisher Fund, sponsored by Daniel J. Boyce, Esq. ’79 and Shelley L. Boyce; Michael E. ’82 and Christine Haefner; and Mike ’80 and Karen Moran. Marty Keating ’75 will donate $15,000 to Lavery Library if 50 donors also support the library. Retired employee and longtime benefactor Bob Heerkens and his wife, Tarri, are challenging 50 graduates of the last decade to make a gift and they will contribute $2,500. Nancy Solliday ’86 will “end the night with more light” and give $5,000 if 75 donors make a gift between 9 p.m. to midnight.

Write a “thank you letter” to donors and have some Fisher fun in the Donald E. Bain Campus Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (students: arrive on time to grab an “I Heart Fisher” t-shirt while they last). Fisher Dining Services will celebrate with the Fisher Favorites lunch in Ward-Haffey Dining Hall and other fun events will be happening in several campus locations throughout the day. Be sure to study the Philanthropy Facts signs throughout campus for a chance to win prizes with Cardinal on the Street, beginning at 10 a.m.

I Heart Fisher Day will also extend to the annual Spring Career Fest, happening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center Fieldhouse. Alumni recruiting on campus will receive a special gift.

For two straight years, the women’s soccer program has topped the athletics giving leaderboard – can they do it again? In 2023, the Classes of 1996 and 2008 tied for first place in the number of donors by graduation year. Which classes will come out on top this year? You can watch progress through the day and see which departments and teams top the giving leaderboard at go.sjf.edu/fishergivingday.

I Heart Fisher Giving Day is a collaboration between Alumni Engagement, Office of Student Engagement and Leadership, Student Alumni Association, and Commuter Council, partnering with many departments and offices around campus including Fisher Dining Services, Office of Safety and Security, Lavery Library, Office of Campus Ministry, Athletics Department, Human Resources, and the Health and Wellness Center.
