Dr. Slymon is an Assistant Professor with the Wegmans School of Nursing, joining the Fisher faculty community in 2023. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marywood University in Scranton Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from the University of Rochester, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from St John Fisher University. In her clinical role as a pediatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Slymon led quality improvement initiatives at Rochester General Hospital including the New York State Perinatal Quality Collaborative’s Infant Safe Sleep project. For this work, she was awarded the Nursing Evidence-based Practice award in 2017. Dr. Slymon’s doctoral work focused on a process and outcomes evaluation of the Eat Sleep Console model of care for opioid-exposed newborns with neonatal abstinence syndrome.

At Fisher, Dr. Slymon teaches in the graduate nursing program both on-campus and online. Courses include GNUR 503 Foundations of Nursing Research and GNUR 706 Healthcare Systems, Policy, and Law.

Accolades include the St John Fisher University 2023 Doctor of Nursing Practice Academic Excellence & Scholarly Achievement Award and the Nursing Practice Clinical Practice Scholarship Award.
