About the Wegmans School of Nursing
The science of nursing practice is enhanced at the Wegmans School of Nursing by Fisher’s values-based education rooted in the philosophy of the Basilian Fathers, the founding order of the College: "Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge."
Our students integrate clinical knowledge with decision-making skills, communications expertise, and compassion to improve patient care in a variety of health care settings.
This is not only the tradition of the Fisher nurse, but the model of education that we are convinced best serves a nursing professional practicing in today’s world of challenges and discovery.
Fisher’s nursing faculty are all practicing nurses who model the behavior, the passion, and the commitment required to deliver exceptional patient care.
Of the 21 faculty members in the Wegmans School of Nursing, 76% are either tenured or on a tenure track. In addition, 86% of the full-time faculty at the School have achieved the highest degree in their field.
All of the faculty at Fisher have embraced a set of six College-wide learning goals. These student-learning outcomes were developed by the faculty and pertain to the following broad areas of learning:
- Intellectual Engagement
- Diversity and Cultural Understanding
- Ethical Integrity
- Discourse and Content of Field
- Application of Knowledge
