The Career Center offers a number of events each semester including career fairs and etiquette lunches, as well as numerous workshops on topics such as résumé writing, internships, using LinkedIn, and more.

Career Center Events

Career and Internship Fair

The Career and Internship Fair offers an opportunity to meet with over 50 employers from a variety of industries who are recruiting for jobs and internships this spring. Open to all students and class years. Stop by anytime between 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. No registration necessary. Dress appropriately and bring multiple copies of your resume.

If you are an employer wishing to participate, please contact Jean Skuse at, or (585) 385-8050 to be added to our invitation list. Space is limited so make sure to sign-up early once registration is open.

Accounting and Finance Career Fair

A career fair for accounting and finance juniors, seniors, and fifth year students to connect and learn more about opportunities in accounting and finance in the Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo and Pittsburgh areas for internships and/or full-time employment. Attire is business formal. Be sure to bring many copies of your resume!

Etiquette Lunch

Learn and practice proper dining etiquette during a sit down lunch. It is common to use your dining skills for job interviews, meetings with a supervisor or clients, or in a networking session. Being knowledgeable and practiced will help you make a good impression by feeling confident and at ease in any situation. Registration fee is $5.00 cash, check, or credit card.

Graduate School Fair

Over 60 graduate schools will be represented at the fair to discuss their programs and answer any questions. Any student considering graduate school in the future is encouraged to attend. No RSVP required, simply stop by the fair.

Graduate School Information Session

Learn more about the factors associated with making a decision about graduate school. You will gain insight on the basic application process and general timelines. All students that might consider graduate school in their future are welcome to attend.

Nursing Fair

This event brings recruiters from area health care organizations on campus to meet nursing students to discuss job and internship opportunities they have to offer. There are organizations from Syracuse, Rochester, the Finger Lakes region, and Buffalo. All class years welcome; no sign up is necessary.

Pre-Law Information Session

Get information on how to prepare throughout your four years to be a competitive applicant for law school admission. This program will cover campus involvement and recommended classes, legal internships, and an overview of the law school application process. It is intended for freshmen through seniors, so feel free to attend if you are exploring law school as an option, regardless of class year.

Choosing a Major

Choosing a major can be a hard decision to make. Learn ways to approach making a decision that include how to research and explore major options as well as the campus resources that are available for obtaining more information on majors of interest.

Job Search Strategies

An effective job search is well defined and effectively utilizes a number of resources and techniques. Learn how to build a strategy that will assist you in meeting your job target. This workshop will address how to: identify your job target, identify employers, apply for a job, and follow up on opportunities. Open to all majors and class years.

Effective Résumé Writing

Have a résumé that needs to be revised or updated? Improve the effectiveness and readability of your résumé with some tips on how to organize content and utilize space as well as ways to approach describing your experiences. Bring the most recent copy of your résumé with you to the workshop.

Utilizing LinkedIn

This workshop provides useful information on how to use LinkedIn to research companies, contacts, and job opportunities while also optimizing your online presence through an effective personal profile.

Internships Workshop

An internship can help define your career path, develop highly sought after professional skills and build your network for future opportunities. Develop your internship search strategy and learn about resources for identifying opportunities.
