Fisher Celebrates Its First-Generation Students First-generation students Diana Delrio, Lindsey Walton, and Mariangelis Gonzalez.

11/09/2020 - More than 450 first-generation students currently call St. John Fisher College home. They lead student organizations, conduct research in labs, and volunteer in the community. On Monday, Nov. 9, Fisher joins a nation-wide celebration of first-generation students and the positive impacts they have on campuses across the country.

11/04/2020 - Four undergraduate biology students at St. John Fisher College were awarded TriBeta Research Grant Awards. The students received grants totaling $2,509 to support their biology research at Fisher.

10/26/2020 - Honors student Ethan Hutchins and Andrew Clark and Nicholas Nelepovitz spent their summer working together to research how COVID-19 would impact undergraduate research and how to navigate this environment to get the most out of their experience. The group’s goal was to provide students with beneficial information about the research experience, especially with new guidelines and regulations that posed limits to the learning experience for undergraduate research.

10/25/2020 - On Sunday, Oct. 25, faculty members on St. John Fisher College’s National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM grant team presented an 80-minute workshop as part of the 64th annual Association of College and University Biology Educators (ACUBE) virtual meeting.

10/19/2020 - Joseph Current and Caden Jensen spent their summers conducting research to confirm the obesogenic effects of BPS, a substitute for BPA in plastic and food containers, and determining if the antiobesogenic properties of natural compounds can be used to rescue zebrafish from these effects.

10/18/2020 - Earlier this fall, TIME’S UP Now commissioned Edelman Data & Intelligence (DxI) to analyze media coverage of the announcement of Senator Kamala Harris as the Democratic vice presidential candidate, and compare it to announcements of candidates Mike Pence and Tim Kaine in 2016.

10/12/2020 - Senior Jacob Vinch, economics major with minors in mathematics and finance, spent his summer conducting research with Dr. Ben Niu, associate professor in the Economics Department, examining the factors that influenced the decisions to enact the state-wide stay-at-home orders as a response to COVID-19.
