Finance

Finance is the engine that drives personal, corporate, government, and world economies. Learn how to excel at all types of money management with a degree in finance from Fisher.

Fisher’s finance program paves the way for you to apply skills learned in the classroom to workplace environs through internships. You could be among the more than 67 percent of School of Business students who have segued from "intern" to "new hire" at their sponsoring business or organization.

You might also consider researching and analyzing potential investments while actively managing a portfolio as a member of Fisher’s Investment Club.

Program Overview

As a finance major, you will select a globalization course to supplement your core business classes. Give your studies a personalized, laser-sharp focus when you choose between the program’s corporate finance or financial planning tracks—each with its own specific mini-curriculum.

The courses you choose from among the program’s designated liberal arts courses could very well cover a portion of your Core requirements as well.

Additionally, you may qualify for the 4+1 MBA program, which would allow you to complete your advanced degree within a year of your undergraduate degree.

Career Options

As a finance major, you will enjoy an excellent job placement record upon graduation. Employers of Fisher finance graduates include:

  • AXA Financial Advisors
  • Catholic Charities
  • Frontier Communications
  • M&T Bank
  • Manning and Napier
  • Mass Mutual
  • Merrill Lynch
  • Morgan Stanley
  • Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance
  • Wegmans
  • Xerox

An internship is the best place to practice the skills you've learned in class, fail at your first attempts, and then learn through trial and error the most effective way to execute those skills in the real world. These were excellent experiences and afforded me great insight into the inner workings of a company outside of the classroom. ”
