From tutoring services to daycare assistant, to working at athletic events or assisting professors, St. John Fisher College offers a variety of student employment opportunities on campus.
Types of Student Employment
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program provides part-time employment to students based on financial need during the academic year. To be eligible for this program, you must be matriculated in an undergraduate or graduate program and enrolled in at least six credit hours for the academic semester in which employment will occur. You must also apply for and be awarded an FWS award in your financial aid package, and must accept the award.
Questions concerning eligibility should be directed to the Financial Aid Office.
Please Note: Federal Work Study awards will not appear as a credit on your bill. A payroll check is issued for hours worked when a job has been obtained at the College.
St. John Fisher College also funds part-time employment during the academic year that is not covered under a FWS. To be eligible for this program, you must be matriculated in an undergraduate or graduate program and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the academic semester in which employment will occur.
Part-time summer employment is funded through the St. John Fisher College Summer Employment Program. To be eligible for this program, you must be matriculated in an undergraduate or graduate program.
Periods of Student Employment
At St. John Fisher College there are two distinct periods of employment for students, academic year and summer. There are specific qualifications to meet and paperwork to be completed for each period of employment.
Academic Year Employment (September - April)
During the academic year, you must be matriculated in an undergraduate or graduate program and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the semester. You must also have completed your educational and financial registration with the College for the semester you will be working. You can be hired as a work study or non-work-study student employee.
Summer Employment (May - August)
During the summer, you must be a continuing matriculated undergraduate or graduate student. Summer employment is considered non-work-study employment.
Finding Student Employment On Campus
At St. John Fisher College, jobs are not assigned or guaranteed. Many students find employment on campus. However, there are generally more students looking for employment on campus than there are jobs available. That does not mean that you should forego looking for work at Fisher. Certain techniques have proven quite effective at helping students secure an on-campus position:

Visit a Department - Walk in and ask if there are job openings within the department, or if they anticipate any openings in the future.
